This document document shows how to:
- Add a new categorical value for site index (SI) classes.
- Set values using the SI of each stand.
- As an example, we will add two classes: (i) low for a SI below or equal to 20, and (ii) high for an SI above 20.
Step 1. Load the stand structure where you want to add the SI classes
- Click on the module Structure.
- Make sure you are in the Structure browser submodule.
- Look and click on the stand structure where you would like to add the SI classes.
- Click on load (or simply double-click on the selected stand structure).

Step 2. Create the categorical variable
- Click on the submodule Structure.
- Click on the stand folder.
- Click on new.
- Select Category variable.

Step 3. Add general description
- Add a display name and a name.
- Add a description (optional).

Step 4. Add options for the new variable.
- Click on new in the bottom-right part of the screen.
- Change the default name. For this example, add low.
- Add a description and change the color (optional). The color will be used in the map view.
- Repeat 1-3 until you have added all the desired options. For this example you would have to repeat this once with a second option named high.
- Click on accept in the upper-right part of the screen.
- Click on save in the upper-right part of the screen.

Step 5. Move the new variable across the structure (optional)
- Open the stand folder in the Structure submodule main view.
- Click on the newly created variable.
- Use the up- and down-arrow to move the variable across the structure.
- Click on save.

Step 6. Add IS class option to one stand
- Click on the Project module and load the stand dataset where the new variable has been created.
- Click on the Data submodule.
- Double-click on any cell under the column of the new variable and select one of the options that you have previously created.

Step 7. Add IS class options to all stands: Filter the columns
- Filter the data by clicking on filter in the upper-right part of the screen.
- Click on variables and select site index.
- Write the logic string that you would like to use for the filtering. For example, to filter all the stands with a SI less or equal to 20, write índice de sitio <=20.
- Click on Filter. As a result, you will only see the stands with a SI less or equal to 20 (or without a SI).

Step 8. Add IS class options to all stands: Input values for the filtered stands
- Select a cell in the new IS-class column, click with the right-button, and select Select column.
- Over the selected column, click with the right-button and select Fill cells.
- Write the option that corresponds to the filter. For this example, write "bajo" (important to write the quotation marks).
- Click on Fill. As a result, you will see all the cells filled with the option bajo.
- Repeat Steps 7 and 8 for each IS class, changing the filtering logic in Step 7 (in this example to >20), and the option name in Step 8 (in this example to "alto").

Step 10. Clean the filter
- Click on filter.
- Erase the text (or click on Clear).
- Click on Filter. As a result you will see all the stands with their respective SI values.
Note: you can now theme your maps with the new SI variable and the colors you picked for each SI class.
